1st Lechon Festival - Pagadian City (June 18, 2021)

In line with the celebration of the 52nd Araw ng Pagadian, we are having the first ever Lechon Festival here in our city.

Ever since I can remember, LECHON has always been a part in most of our celebrations….whether it be birthdays, weddings, or even graduations. And we can truly see this because of the number of Lechon-makers present here in our city. We also take pride that our Pagadian Lechon is one of the best in the country, and for this reason, the current administration has taken some initiatives to help promote our Lechon Industry.

Mayor saw the gap in the promotion of our lechon industry wherein the tourists or non-Pagadianons are having a hard time locating our lechon makers. To address this, the City Government has established the Lechonan sa Pagadian area where all lechon-making business owners can roast and display their lechons in one area. This project will not only benefit the business owners but also, this will make it easier for us to account how many lechon businesses we have in our city and monitor the sanitation and all necessary permits to operate their businesses.

With the celebration of the Araw ng Pagadian, the current administration wanted to celebrate something that is significant and relevant to us, Pagadianons. And so after a series of meetings, considering the quarantine status of the city, the team decided to shift other competitions to online and pushed through with the Lechon Festival, given that the venue will be in an open area and only limited guests, following minimum health protocols.
